Mirror mirror on the wall...

One of T's favorite things to do (besides giggle at Elmo and play on his rainforest bouncer) is to look at himself in the mirror. You're almost guaranteed a smile if you let him hang out by his reflection. C and I are always curious as to why he smiles -- it certainly isn't C or my doing as his smiles don't come as a result of our silly acts. So, we've concluded -- our little T must just love looking and laughing at himself. Sort of like mommy when she was a kid. Mommy used to lock herself in the bathroom for hours and pretend she was a rockstar. Like mommy, like son.

In the last week, a few new developments have happened worth reporting. First, little T started really jumping on his jumperoo. When we first got the little bouncer, we actually had to push it up and down so he could hear the sounds and feel the act of jumping. We would often sit on the sides chanting "Jump Tristin. Jump. Jump. Juuuuummmpp!" as T just stared at us and drooled on the seat cover. Little did we know that the removal of his socks would be the key to getting his spring going. No socks = Enthusiastic, jumping T. Now, in between his feedings, T vigorously jumps up and down, side to side like an entangled bunny. It's adorable to watch -- sometimes his jumps look like little tap dances as he will diligently move his little feet back and forth, side to side while he thrusts his body upward.

The other thing he's started to do is roll over. Don't get too excited. It's not a full roll. Maybe not even a real roll. Nevertheless, its something he's never done before and its close to any kind of "rolling" we've ever seen so we secretly count it as a roll or a flip or flip-roll. Actually...to be totally honest, it looks more like a tumble or a "oops-I fell on my back" but whatever -- we'll take credit even when credit isn't due. You go T. Mommy and daddy are so proud of you!!

Thanks to grandma and grandpa (they rock!), we've managed to get videos of both new developments -- scroll to the end for the clips.

Lastly, a few other updates --

  • T is sleeping 11 hours every night (9pm-8am) - alleluia. He really does love mommy and daddy and knows we have to go to work so he makes sure he doesn't wake up until after we are gone (and allows us to sleep through the night!)
  • T continues to blab and sometimes he'll "sing" when mommy and daddy sings to him (to note -- singing means he just yells out strange tones as mommy and daddy sings a song)
  • T must be starting the process of teething (or his mouth is getting ready for it) as he seems to be drooling even more and he tends to stick his hand in his mouth quite often.
  • While he's pretty good about taking his naps early in the day (morning and early afternoon), he tends to have a hard time napping later and becomes a fussy little monkey in the evenings (because he's exhausted)
  • These days, he doesn't drink very much -- about 20-24 ounces/day and he is usually pretty adamant about not eating when he's hungry. His overfeeding and insanely hungry days are gone.

Now for the pics and videos....

Eleven hours a night!! I am so jealous, my little guy is 7 months now and still isn't sleeping through the night. Tristin is so cute, those cheeks just beg to be kissed. For some reason your videos wont play for me :( but I love the picture of him sleeping sitting up.

The video of Tristin dancing on his jumperoo is hilarious and the sound he made while rolling over is so cute too! Haeley is looking forward to the next playdate with Tristin so he can show her some neat tricks!
