Happy 2009!

Happy 2009 to all! What an incredible, crazy, inspiring, roller coaster year!

For the holidays, T, C and I trekked to the east coast (Auburn, NY - 40 minutes outside of Syracuse, NY -- can I hear a "brr brr"??!) to visit grandma and grandpa Choi and had a blast playing in the snow and basking in a true white Christmas. It was our first cross-country trip with T and I have to say, he behaved as well as any ansy 14-month old can behave on an incredibly long journey with one layover, two flights and one 40-minute car ride. Towards the end of our return trip, he had a few mini meltdowns which were barely contained...our most effective tactic in keeping T distracted was to take him up and down the rows of passengers so he could flirt with all the pretty girls sitting in the aisle seats. Needless to say, T was in full action, sporting his dimple, no-eye smiles and reaching/stroking/touching women's hands where possible. Oh, and not to mention blowing kisses and waving hello. While new snacks and toys, as well as a DVD player helped for a few hours, it was the back-and-forth stroll that bought us some time and re-energized T.

This x-mas was special not only because it was the first real white x-mas C and I have had in a few years, but it was a great Choi reunion and a chance for Tristin to re-unite with Grandma and Grandpa Choi. He proved to be a bit tough to manage -- waking up every few hours, clinging onto mommy and daddy and screaming and yelling quite a bit and refusing to go anywhere without his blankie, Boo Boo... nonetheless, as always, T was still very cute with his continuous attempts to sing, and sway to music, giggle and imitate, walk like a drunken man....

Happy 2009 to all -- more videos and pics to come but we'll leave you with a few snapshots from our trip to upstate NY!!

Its hip to be Alamo Square

We live by one of the best parks in the Universe, Alamo Square Park. I tell C at least once a day how much I love this park and I have to say, T does too. The moment we get to the park, he runs away and rushes off to the sand pit. In addition to pouring sand through his fingers and feeling the grainy texture seep through his hands, he loves gliding down the slides (with the help of daddy of course), swinging high into the sky and crawling around the rubbery grounds of the children's playground. If there are kids nearby, he loves crawling to them, stealing their sandbox tools and occasionally interacting with them (although very rare). It is the only time of day when T crawls away from us vs. towards us. Most days, he can't wait and insists on us holding/carrying him. At Alamo, he dreads it (as it means its time to leave).

These days, C and I try to take him to Alamo Square Park at least once a weekend, if not twice. We usually spend an hour playing in the park. By the end, T is usually filthy - hands ridden with dirt and germs, and shoes/socks filled with sand particles. He's usually famished, exhausted and thirsty and the perfect next task right after is bath time!

If you have never been to Alamo Square Park, it's one worth checking out if ever in SF -- even if you have no kids. It's quaint, charming and picturesque and from every side of the park, there are stunning views.

I could hang out here all day
