Hello San Fran!

One year after we moved to the Bay area, C, T and I finally made our way back to the city (alleluia). Not that we didn't love the 'burbs of the Bay (actually grew to love it) but it was time to shorten the commute and re-acquaint ourselves with the Urban jungle. While being in the city has been wonderful, SF is less convenient of a city than I would have wished -- public transportation is mediocre and unfortunately, so is parking -- one would have hoped that with bad parking options would come good, on-time, 24-7 public transportation (think: NYC!). But what we subtract for inconvenience is made up for the beauty and quaintness of the city -- and gorgeous it is.

After having lived in high-rise apartments for the last 10+ years, C and I decided that this time - we would do it right - a la San Francisco. I, in particular, really wanted a place with character and a living that was more quaint and quintessentially San Franciscoan (if there is such a word). We found a nice, renovated Victorian in Haight-Ashbury, a few blocks down from the famous intersection of the hippies era. Unlike the places we used to live in, it is quite different -- the kitchen is all the way in the back, living room and dining room are separated (and far off from the kitchen), bedrooms are near the kitchen and the space is quite narrow and long. However, despite the interesting/different layout, we love the fact that there are crown moldings everywhere, beautiful fireplaces, original hardwood floors and many of the original detailings including bright and open bay windows for many of the rooms and the original bathtub with gold-plated pedestals.

Oh, and best of all, we live near the best park in the universe (or so I claim): Alamo Square Park. If you have seen the TV show "Full House", you know what I mean-- it's an absolutely breaktaking park with the best children's playground (new/clean/cute). Tristin absolutely loves the sandbox there -- its the only time he runs away from us whenever we say "let's go home..."

PS -- Be sure to check out Tristin's videos. His first signs of jealousy.....
