Happy 2008!

Happy New Year!!

I can't believe a whole year has passed. Actually, let me take that back, I *can* believe that 2007 has passed. While time did fly, 2007 was filled with a lot of change and in many ways, it was probably one of the most "maturing" years of my life. Yep, after years of acting like a kid (watching Laguna Beach, hardly cleaning, refusing to drive, etc.), 2007 marked the year that would turn things around. First of all, I had a baby and became a mommy. We moved back to the US, and not the old US (I was used to) but the "You mean, I actually have to learn how to drive?" suburban part of the US. I owned a car (the most expensive thing I've ever owned...not counting my b-school debt, that is). I started doing laundry and cleaning (Something I had not done in the last 2 years prior to returning). I started bulk buying at Costco and did bulk cooking at home to create meals for the week. I started watching "The Hills" (the more mature version of Laguna). Yes, 2007 marked true adulthood.

So, as expected New Year's eve was pretty low key for us. Call me lame but for the last few new year's eve, I did not make it to midnight (peaked out at about 10pm) so for this one, I was committed to lasting until the clock struck twelve. With that mental commitment, I turned to one of my passions (cooking/eating) and made some Braciole (stuffed, rolled-up flank steak in a marinara sauce) alongside pasta and sauteed spinach. And then, C, my little sister and I watched "The Kingdom". At about 11:30pm, we woke T up to feed him and watched the countdown show together. We noted last night that Carson Daly looked a lot like Dick Clark, Ryan Seacrest was a more charismatic host than Carson Daly (although he looked tired), Alicia Keys looked really goy-jus as she sported these rockin', bright blue shoes (that matched her scarf) and sang one of my favorite songs, Fergie looked like Jessica Simpson (her hair, in particular) and didn't look as cute as her "Kids Incorporated" days but still looked good last night.....and voila --midnight hit and we celebrated 2008 with big kisses and hugs. And then, we went straight to bed.

Oh, and Tristin didn't wake up until 7:30am -- it is unclear whether he really slept until then or whether I was in such deep slumber, my brain shut off and didn't turn back on until the morning!

Here's hoping that 2008 blesses all of us and our loved ones with lots of love, sleep, good health & mucho happiness!
