9 (months) West

How fast time flies. In a blink of an eye (or actually, 4 blinks of an eye), little T is now 9 months and passing. He's quite a big boy now -- 22 pounds (75 percentile in weight) and 50th percentile in height. He's crawling a ton, cruising around holding onto whatever he can grab (and standing that way) and blabbering 'da','ba', 'ah', etc. He's got three teeths on the bottom (one to his left side sprouting) and two on the top fighting their way through his gums.

His new thing is clapping and shaking his head as though he's saying no (but of course he has no idea what 'no' is). And often pulling at our faces with his strong claws. He also likes to grunt, projecting his chest forward, as though he's angry. T continues to drink very little milk and prefers solids -- mommy's pasta, rice with chicken/meat, etc. and lots of vegetables/fruits.

You may or may not know this but Tia Monica has been our au pair for the last few months and she's been awesome. Well, just a week ago, Tia Monica left for LA for a few days and unfortunately, T was stuck with a replacement nanny who wasn't as cool as Tia M. Miserable was an understatement. Lucky for T, Tia M. returned quickly and smiled his sorrows away. Over the last month, T has been the recipient of a lot of ladies' attention with Tia Monica's sister in town (Tia Anabela who is visiting from Vzla) and Tia Melanie visting quite often (M's sister who is also an au pair in the bay area). In fact, thanks to Tia Monica, T has been partaking in some festive Venezuelan activities, e.g., making arepa (yum yum). Lucky T.

See you soon!!

Gymboree time

So, after 9 months of hearing about Gymboree, C and I finally took the plunge. Yes, C and I finally stepped up as parents and took T to his first gymboree class. I have to admit -- our commitment to taking T to weekly Gymboree classes came less from our desire to let T crawl free and socialize with other babies (although that was a strong driver!) but moreso from our realization that T was scared of rolling balls. Yes, every time we would roll balls to him, he would shut his eyes from fear. C and I (but in particular C!) was so alarmed, we bought a bag of balls and spent the next week rolling balls to him when we got home from work. Heaven forbid, little T makes a slow start in playing golf, hockey, soccer and tennis all because of his fear of rolling balls!

Happy to report that T no longer shuts his eyes when we roll balls to him. Instead, he ignores them and crawls the other way. Oh well..

I love crawling!

Daddy, do you love gymboree too?
